Nate Newman leads a team of highly qualified development professionals, asset/investment managers, and real estate brokers. Newman Commercial Real Estate is unique due to its 3 different business lines:

Nate began his career in commercial real estate in 2007 with Foldetta Commercial in The Woodlands, TX. His timing coincided with The Great Recession, which taught Nate valuable lessons in humility, determination, and how to hustle. After 5 years and 65 transactions, Nate joined Marcus & Millichap in 2013 to open The Woodlands office. During his tenure at Marcus & Millichap, Nate was very successful representing some of the largest investors and developers in Houston.
In 2019, Nate followed his dream of opening his own company focused on investment brokerage and development. Nate has sold in excess of $500,000,000 of properties and he and his team have personally underwritten/valued billions of dollars worth of assets as a service to their clients.
Nate also has extensive experience as a developer. Nate’s team of development professionals specializes in working through complicated entitlement challenges for large land tracts and developing mixed-use projects. Nate has over 1,000,000 square feet under development in The Woodlands / Conroe / Spring / Magnolia / Tomball area. His approach to investments is unique because he is able to leverage his transactional investment brokerage experience to generate capital, source deal opportunities, and have the knowledge base to work through challenges.
A life-long resident of The Woodlands, Nate is a graduate of Baylor University and is happily married to Marifer Newman. Marifer and Nate have two children. When not working, Nate enjoys spending time at his ranch, playing golf, leading mission trips with his church, sailing, reading, and traveling with his family.
Clayton provides oversight of all phases of the real estate development process, including acquisition, due diligence, feasibility planning, market analysis, budget and proforma analysis, design programming and optimization, construction management, and project closeout. Clayton’s strong entrepreneurial vision and spirit brings long-term value to our customers and partners through real estate development, investments, and public-private partnerships.
Before joining Newman in 2020, Clayton worked for CDC Houston, Inc., the developer of a 2,000-acre mixed-use masterplanned community in Spring, Texas, called Springwoods Village. While working at CDC Houston for nearly seven years, Clayton was one of two local managers helping oversee the design, construction, and operations of the development. Clayton helped establish the initial infrastructure within the community while working in tandem with the improvement district created to support such a massive development. The infrastructure improvements, along with the vision of Springwoods Village secured the relocation of several major fortune 100 and 500 companies to the community, including ExxonMobil’s state-of-the-art Houston Campus, Southwestern Energy, American Bureau of Shipping, Hewlett Packard, Inc., and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Clayton’s early career work experience was in property management and architecture. In property management, Clayton worked for Crescent Real Estate Equities and CBRE, Inc. where he co-managed over 2 million square feet of Class A office space in downtown Houston.
Clayton completed his undergraduate degree in 2005 from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. After several years of work experience, Clayton returned to Texas A&M and completed his graduate education in 2008 with a Master’s degree in Land and Real Estate Development. Clayton is a licensed real estate agent and lives in The Woodlands with his wife Jennifer and their two boys Kai and Pierce. When not working, Clayton enjoys traveling with his family and being outdoors.
Drawing on over 45 years of development experience in Houston, Charlie is instrumental in directing and planning Newman's development projects. He is well-versed in each stage of the development life-cycle but is especially involved in pre-development and solving complicated entitlement challenges.
Charlie began his career in 1978 after graduating from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He worked at The Vantage Companies, which at the time was one of the largest commercial real estate developers in the USA. His responsibilities focused on office / industrial master planning and build-to-suit commercial office and office/warehouse projects.
Charlie obtained his license in 1983 and continued to work in the Architectural profession at Morris Aubry Architects, where he specialized in the high rise building sector. Subsequently, he moved to Ray Bailey Architects, a well-respected boutique design firm with a more diverse portfolio.
In 1990, Charlie moved his family to The Woodlands, where he worked for The Woodlands Development Corporation. He divided his time between commercial development projects in The Woodlands and in Galveston. Charlie continued in the development world when he began working with Cedarwood Development, specializing in the early 2000s nationwide expansion of CVS Pharmacy chain.
In 2006, Charlie joined Stage Stores, a Houston based national retailer as Senior VP Planning, Construction, and Facilities. SSI was more commonly known as "Palais Royal" in the Houston area operated 850 stores in 40 states.
In 2014, Charlie joined Johnson Development Corp, where he was responsible for commercial site planning, architectural and landscaping standards for Johnson's Woodforest and Grand Central Park developments. After a short stint working in the senior living sector, he joined Newman CRE in 2022.
Charlie has been married to his wife, Sally since 1977. Their daughter lives with her pilot husband and two children, Lilly and Charlie, Jr. in Carmel, Indiana. Charlie and Sally's son and dog, Riggs, currently live in The Woodlands.
Logan Kelly began his career in 2011 working for The National Realty Group (now Lee & Associates) where he was a brokerage assistant specializing in landlord/tenant representation and property sales with a focus on industrial real estate.
After TNRG, Logan joined LMI Capital as an Investment Analyst. There, he helped investors obtain debt and equity for all asset classes with a focus on bridge financing, equity financing, mezzanine debt, and permanent loans. During his tenure at LMI, Logan worked on acquisitions/refinances for Multifamily, Retail, Office, and Industrial properties and helped source and close over $150,000,000 in debt from conduit, agency, and bank lenders.
In 2015, Logan joined Marcus & Millichap where he worked alongside his partner, Nate Newman, and closed $30 million of Retail, Office, and Industrial assets.
Logan completed his undergraduate work at the University of Houston, earning a B.S. degree in Economics. Logan is a member of the Urban Land Institute and International Council of Shopping Centers.
Tom began his career in commercial real estate in 1984 with Daum Commercial in Anaheim, California and specialized in the sale and leasing of industrial properties located throughout Orange County. Tom was one of the original brokers who launched the Anaheim office of Scher-Voit Commercial where he continued as an industrial properties broker.
Tom and his family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1994, where he served as an industrial properties broker with Southern Real Estate. During his tenure with Southern Real Estate, Tom leased and sold more than four million square feet of industrial manufacturing and distribution space and represented the sale of Billy Joel's and Christy Brinkley's Spencer Gifts Distribution facility which consisted of more that 250,000 square feet.
Tom most recently served as a Senior Associate with the National Office and Industrial Properties Group at Marcus & Millichap where he teamed up with Nate Newman and Logan Kelly on numerous deals, including the sale of Mattress Firm's corporate office and training facility, a single tenant net lease investment valued at $6 million, Hollister Business Park, a 250,000 square foot industrial multi-tenant investment valued at $9 million, and Rebecca Village, a 54,000 square foot industrial multi-tenant investment valued at $4 million.
Tom’s responsibilities at Newman includes commercial real estate investment sales and project leasing Newman's industrial development projects.
Tom is a graduate of Loyola University, New Orleans. He has been married to his wife, Nancy Costello, since 1980 and has two sons, Ryan Costello, MBA graduate of the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, and Jackson Costello, Economics graduate of the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University, San Marcos.
As a licensed broker for over 35 years, David provides clients with quantitative and tactical solutions to often complex real estate investment challenges. In 2000 he joined Cornish & Carey Commercial (Newmark) in San Mateo, CA and each year ranked within the top-3 for production in retail sales and leasing with over $300 million in closed transactions.
In 2006, he joined Colliers International (San Diego) as Senior Vice President of Retail Investment Services and in 2009 was awarded “Transaction Of The Year” from the CCIM San Diego chapter.
In 2016, he moved with his wife Maria and son Andrew to The Woodlands, Texas where they enjoy canoeing and camping. He joined Marcus & Millichap (M&M) in 2016 as a senior broker specializing in the sale of retail net leased investments. While at M&M, he was affiliated with and became good friends with Nate Newman, Tom Costello, and Logan Kelly (The Newman Group).
In 2023, David formally joined Newman as Senior Vice President of Retail Leasing, directing the leasing efforts of more than 500,000 SF of retail and medical office space.
David graduated from the Mortgage Banking program at California State University, Sacramento, California, and received a master’s in investment analysis along with the prestigious Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation. David is also certified as an Alternate Investment Specialist from (CAIA) holding series 22, 63 & 65 licenses (FINRA).
Hugo has 18+ years of experience delivering high-quality workmanship on time and within budget. He excels at collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure projects meet the highest standards. With a Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design, Hugo is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies. When he's not working, Hugo enjoys hiking, traveling, spending time with his wife, and playing with his three children.
Austin’s responsibilities at Newman include leading the acquisitions initiative for the company’s growing investment portfolio as well as developing long-term corporate strategy and procedures.
Austin began his real estate career in 2010 while working full time in the medical field as a business development manager. In pursuit of alternative investments, Austin began acquiring single and multi-family assets across Houston for his own rental portfolio, which led him into a full time career in real estate. He acquired, rehabilitated, and disposed of over 100 properties for himself and his clients across a variety of asset classes after building an extensive network over the years.
In addition to real estate investment, Austin has experience with construction, development, land entitlement and permitting. During his real estate career, he has directly managed construction across 150,000 square feet of value-add and new construction projects.
Austin is a native Houstonian and holds a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a master’s degree from the University of Houston, C.T. Bauer College. Austin is married to his wife, Rachel Shaw, and has one daughter. During his free time, Austin enjoys spending time with his family, working out, and kite surfing.
Ricardo has worked on the most important companies in Latin-American leading accounting and financial activities. He began his career in PWC as an accountant in one of the big 4 firms. Then moved to the financial sector, to Scotiabank as credit analyst and to Invex bank as Sr. Fundamental analyst, his initial contact with the Stock Market.
Afterwards, Ricardo joined the Securities and Exchange Commission in Mexico. In this role he supervised the reports of the Issuers and was responsible for stock market investigations. He created some of the reports from the issuers to the investors, like the annual report that is based on form 10K of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the USA. He also led the implementation of international Financial Standards (IFRS) that was a milestone as foreign investors started comparing globally the financial information of Mexican companies.
In 2014 Ricardo took the CFO position in Mexican Central Bank, he was responsible for accounting and the financial information that the Bank discloses to the public. First central bank to prepare its information in accordance with IFRS. Additionally, he led the Implementation of a zero-based budget, achieving a 10% annual reduction in expenses.
Ricardo worked 7 years in Walmart, every issue solved had a high impact on the company, as every operation is huge. He led the internal controls area in Mexico and Central America including a successful implementation of Anti Corruption controls for the first time in the company, additionally he verified that the SOX controls and reports to the Stock Exchanges complied with regulation. Then he was promoted as head of share service operations in LATAM (accounting, treasury, taxes, accounts payable and receivables, payroll, and controls). The average productivity was 40%, due to improvement in quality, digital transformation and standardization of processes.
Ricardo joined Newman as a Controller and he is responsible for accounting, administrative activities, financial reporting, and internal controls. He is a CPA and has a master’s degree in finance in Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM). Ricardo enjoys traveling with his wife and 3 kids and he is a big fan of soccer.
